I added three filters onto the modular synth patch I created last week, 1 homemade chorus, 1 homemade comb, and Max’s biquad object, and created a real sound behemoth. So much so that the patch crashes now whenever I try to turn on the audio. Last night, though, I was able to record 5 tracks that captured a good sampling of my patche’s sound generation potential.

I wanted to create something pseudo-modular, so it’s got all these groupings of oscillators, with various modulators or pairings, that I can patch together or store as a select grouping via the numbers in the lower left hand corner.

I expanded my code from last week so that is uses regular expressions to render Blake’s “The Tiger” as if it was written by Samuel Beckett. I simply replaced recurring words from Blake’s poems with some lines I came up with inspired by Beckett’s style. Alas, I shall work no more, no less, but move on.

Here’s the Programming A to Z Blog

For my first assignment, I wrote a program that took William Blake’s “The Tiger” and inserted the words “whipped cream” whenever the word “the” is used in the poem.

The results are fairly amusing.

For this assignment I traveled to Grand Central Station, and Coles Gym, and wandered a bit through the East Village. I discovered the aural beauty of the jackhammer, recorded perhaps the best excerpt from a random conversation I’ve ever heard, and learned to always bring a windscreen for your mic. I also really, really want one of these now.
